Phu Yen: Rare sea turtle returned to nature

A rare turtle was released back into the ocean in the south-central coastal province of Phu Yen on January 11 by the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Xuan Thinh Border Post.

The reptile was discovered by a local fisherman on January 10. It weighs 3.7 kg and measures 40 cm in length, 25 cm in width and is reported to be in good health.

The provincial department advised local residents to report to competent agencies if they find the endangered animal.

In October 2018, as many as 12 turtles were released back into the ocean in Phu Quoc island district of the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.

The rare reptiles were previously raised among local households in Bai Thom commune of Phu Quoc for years.

Vietnam advances people-centred policies to turn happiness into measurable outcomes

Vietnam climbed to the 46th place in the World Happiness Report 2025, its highest position since the ranking was introduced in 2012. Since the Prime Minister approved a project in 2013 to organise annual activities marking the International Day of Happiness, Vietnam has implemented synchronised social security policies that have steadily improved living standards. Development strategies have increasingly placed people at the centre, focusing on well-being and satisfaction rather than purely economic indicators.
