Party leader-President Nguyen Phu Trong offers incense to President Ho Chi Minh

General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong on September 1 offered incense in memory of President Ho Chi Minh at House 67 in the Ho Chi Minh relic site, where the President passed away on September 2, 1969.

Talking to the staff at the relic site, the Party leader and President expressed his joy at seeing people from all corners of the country as well as abroad come to pay respect to the late President at his mausoleum.

He appreciated the work of the relic site’s staff in preserving valuable documents and artefacts about President Ho Chi Minh’s life and revolutionary career, and popularizing the President’s thought and teachings.

President Ho Chi Minh led the Vietnamese nation to success in the struggle for national independence.

On September 2, 1945, he read the Declaration of Independence, declaring to the world the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Before passing away on September 2, 1969, Ho Chi Minh spent four years from May 1965 to May 1969 to write his testament, which has become a guideline for Vietnam’s revolution and development during the past half century.

Many activities, including a national ceremony, have been held across the country this year to mark 50-year implementation of the late President’s testament.
