Pakistani band Saakin performed at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Viet Nam on October 5, bringing contemporary Pakistani music closer to Vietnamese audiences.
Kohdayar Marri, Pakistani Ambassador to Viet Nam, said Pakistan and Viet Nam have yet many opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures. Cultural and artistic exchanges could help Vietnamese people learn more about Pakistan’s traditional crafts, arts and artists, and people.
“Saakin is a well-known band in Pakistan, and they kindly came and shared their skills, talent and wonderful music with Vietnamese audiences. We believe this is a great way to bring contemporary expressions of Pakistani traditions to Viet Nam, while also offering a glimpse into the culture of Pakistan’s younger generation, alongside the country’s traditional values,” he said.
A representative of Saakin said the band had previously performed at the 2nd Hanoi International Cultural Festival, where they were impressed by the openness of Vietnamese audiences.
“We found that Vietnamese people are open to many things, not just music. They have welcomed our music with the same open-minded spirit and have been very enthusiastic about the sounds we bring,” the representative said.
As part of its activities during its Viet Nam tour, Saakin will also meet and perform for Vietnamese students in Hanoi./.
