Following a successful AFC Asian Cup 2019, midfielder Luong Xuan Truong of Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) has joined Buriram United Football Club of Thailand.

The transfer fee and Truong’s salary has not been revealed after the player signed a one year contract with Burirum.

HAGL announced the 23-year-old passed a medical and is ready to play for the Thai club.

Buriram United were Thai champions last season finishing 16 points ahead of runners-up Bangkok United. They will play in the AFC Champions League group stages this season against China’s Beijing Guoan, Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds and the Republic of Korea’s Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

Buriram are considered the most successful teams in Thailand. During the past 10 years, they were crowned champions seven times and often reached the knock-out rounds of the AFC Champions League.

Meanwhile, striker Nguyen Cong Phuong of HAGL is reportedly close to signing a one-year loan deal with K League club Incheon United with the official announcement set to take place soon.

“We have received a lot of invitations from clubs of Thailand, Japan and Europe with HAGL players. HAGL believe Truong and Phuong will prove their abilities, skill and spirit and experience,” said HAGL manager Nguyen Tan Anh.

Phuong has scored eight goals in 31 international appearances for Vietnam including at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 campaign in which Vietnam won as well as the AFC Asian Cup where they reached the quarter-finals.

Truong played for Incheon United of the RoK for two years and Phuong went out on loan to Japanese second division side Mito HollyHock in 2016.
