Japanese artists to perform Yosakoi dance at Hanoi’s walking area

Japanese artists will perform Yosakoi - a unique style of dance in Japan - at the walking area around Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi on April 21, as part of activities to mark the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties.

The information was released at a meeting in Hanoi on April 19 between Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu and head of the Organising Board of the Fukuro Festival of Japan Iwata Jinichi.

Iwata Jinichi said that performing in Hanoi is a great honour for the Japanese troupe.

He expressed his hope that through this performance, the friendship between Tokyo and Hanoi and between Japan and Vietnam at large will be tightened.

Suu recalled the close relationship between Japan and Vietnam and their capital cities, which has been enhanced through the organisation of numerous festivals, including the Japanese cherry blossom festival at Ly Thai To Square, Hoan Kiem lake in late March.

He said that Hanoians are always willing to welcome foreign tourists, including those from Japan.

He showed his hope that the Yosakoi performance will bring joy for and attract the participation of visitors to the walking area, thus helping consolidate the bilateral relationship.
