Hanoi’s long-awaited metro line starts trial run

The Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line, Hanoi’s first urban railway project, started its trial operations on September 20.

The trial run will last between three and six months during which passengers will not be on board to ensure safety.

All of the project’s 13 trains will be put into operation on the 13km-long elevated railway, which runs from Yen Nghia station in Ha Dong district to Cat Linh station in Dong Da district.

The trains with an average speed of 30-35 km/hour and maximum 65km/hour, will stop for one minute at each station.

On the first days, the intervals between trains will be 10-12 minutes, which will be shortened during the trial run and reach 5 minutes when the elevated railway is put into commercial operation.

The trial operations involve nearly 700 people, including the Chinese general contractor’s staff who will be on duty 24 hours a day at every station to ensure safe operation of the trains. Vnews/VNP
