Government leader hosts PCA Secretary-General in Hanoi

The PM highly valued the PCA’s relations with Vietnam and noted his wish to develop these ties in a more extensive and effective manner. 

The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be assigned to be in charge of connections with the PCA, PM Phuc said, adding that Vietnam welcomes the court of arbitration’s opening of an office in the country through which bilateral cooperation will be intensified in a result-oriented fashion. 

He noted Vietnam is exerting efforts to expand comprehensive cooperation with other countries, regions and organisations in the world. It hopes to receive the PCA’s advice on and assistance in legal staff and lawyer training and related issues. 

At the meeting, PCA Secretary-General Siblesz introduced the court of arbitration’s activities to the PM. 

He thanked the Vietnamese Government for permitting the PCA office opening in Vietnam which will create favourable conditions for the PCA’s activities here, especially lawyer and legal staff training.

To date, 50 have been launched, including 17 completed and 33 underway on schedule, while the remaining 32 will continue to be carried out this year.
