Chilean President starts State visit to Vietnam

Hanoi, November 8 (VNA) – Chilean President Michelle Bachelet Jeria arrived in Hanoi in the afternoon of November 8, beginning a two-day State visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Tran Dai Quang. 

President Michelle Bachelet Jeria is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Heraldo Munoz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Paulina Na Zal and Chilean Ambassador to Vietnam Claudio De Negri, among others. 

The visit aims at strengthening the Vietnam-Chile friendship and comprehensive cooperation, particularly in economy, trade, investment, culture, science-technology and tourism. 

Vietnam and Chile set up diplomatic ties on March 25, 1971. 

After the Vietnam visit, the Chilean President will attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in central Da Nang city. Chile will host the APEC Year 2019.
