ASEAN Song Contest 2017 to be held in Vietnam

Hanoi, July 4 (VNA) – The ASEAN Song Contest 2017 will take place in the north central province of Thanh Hoa from August 18-21. 

The first-ever event is organised by Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VoV), aiming to bolster culture exchange between ASEAN countries and their three partners namely China, Japan and the Republic of Korea. 

It is also hoped to enhance friendship and cooperation of those countries as well as creativity and music talents in the ASEAN community. 

Contestants aged 18-35 from the 10 ASEAN countries are eligible for the event.

Among the 217 central-level nominees, 51 are women, accounting for 23.5%, 21 are from ethnic minority groups (9.68%), and 138 are incumbent deputies seeking re-election (63.59%). In terms of qualifications, 28 hold university degrees (12.9%), 189 have postgraduate degrees (87.09%), and none are below university level.
