This is the large guitar festival which will gather famous artists at home and abroad as well as outstanding contestants from Vietnam, Thailand, Canada and the Netherlands, he said.
The event aims to honour classical music and seek new guitar talents, Hien said, adding it also helps improve the position of the guitar community in Hanoi and promote the guitar playing movement in the capital city and the whole country.
During the three-day festival, music lovers will have a chance to enjoy performances by famous domestic and foreign guitarists as well as contemplate hi-end guitars in the world.
Among the performers will be meritorious artist Dao Tuyet Trinh and guitarists Vu Hien, Chau Dang Khoa, Tran An and Le Thu from Vietnam; Sumomi Kohno from Japan; Pierre Bibault from France; and Lorenzo Bernadi from Italy.
Contestants to the competition will choose any work to play in a time of 6-10 minutes in the qualifying round. Then the organising board will select excellent performances to the final round.
The award ceremony will take place on October 28 evening. Organisers will grant first, second and third prizes to those with the best performances. The highest award will be an Alma guitar worth 5,500 USD.
The first Alma Hanoi International Festival and Competition was held in October 2017 with the participation of 30 domestic and foreign artists.
