Additional 38 Vietnamese workers return from Libya

Cairo, September 2, (VNA)- An additional of 38 Vietnamese labourers, who were working in the coastal city of Misrata in northwestern Libya, were evacuated to Tunisia via the Ras Adjir border gate on September 1.

The Head of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs’ Working Group, Nguyen Duc Nam, said the workers had been dispatched to Libya to under a contract between SONA Co.Ltd and Misrata General Construction Company (GCCM).

The two companies have helped them make custom procedures and travel arrangements to Tunis, the capital city of Tunisia for their flights back to Vietnam.

As of September 1, there are still 222 Vietnamese workers working in Libya, Vietnamese Ambassador to Libya Dao Duy Tien said.

As scheduled, SONA will work with Libya’s SAMA Construction Company to evacuate another 46 Vietnamese workers via Tunisia on September 3.

The remaining labourers, who work on construction sites in Misrata city, Brega city, Nalut province and Ghadamis oasis town, will be sent home soon.

Accordingly, between January and March, rice output reached 3.64 million tonnes; livestock production attained 2.28 million tonnes of meat, up 4.9%; fisheries output reached 2.7 million tonnes, up 3.3%; and forestry production totalled 12 million cubic metres of timber, an increase of over 3%. The sector’s export turnover reached 16.69 billion USD, up 5.9%, with a trade surplus of 4.78 billion USD, up 12%.
