According to marketing surveys conducted by Betrimex, the demand for using products made from natural materials, including coconut is increasing. Furthermore, products made from coconuts are diverse and have high economic value. Coconut trees are exploited and used in different fields, such as the food processing industry, making fine handicrafts and producing active coal. Therefore, Betrimex has invested a lot in production facilities and technology to take full advantage of the plentiful material resources in this area.

Betrimex now has two factories producing dried copra, a major product, in Mo Cay Nam District and Ben Tre City with a capacity of 1,200 tonnes/year. The company also has an activated carbon production factory and two subsidiaries, including BTCO Co., Ltd and Coconut Fiber Processing Joint-Stock Company (COFICO).

The company’s coconut products are varied, including many products which are sought after in foreign markets, namely desiccated coconut copra, coconut oil, coconut fibre, coconut shell charcoal and coconut activated carbon from coconut shells. Thanks to meeting the standards of ISO, GMP, HACCP, about 70% of dried coconut is exported to the markets in Europe, Asia and America.

The activated carbon product made of coconut shell has a promising potential. It is a special product that is considered “black gold” in Ben Tre because it is very useful in the technology of filling water, air, eradicating smells and anti-radioactive rays. With its useful features, activated carbon is worth 850 USD/tonne.

The process of producing desiccated, scraped coconut copra is strictly supervised
to meet the requirement of food safety and hygiene.

Nguyen Van Duc, General Director of Betrinex, said: “Products made of coconut have a promising potential for foreign markets. Depending on each market, we are planning to improve the quality of products to meet all the demands of our customers.”

For many years, Betrimex has been one of the leading enterprises operating effectively in Ben Tre, providing regular jobs for over 700 workers and transient jobs for thousands of local employees.

To promote its trademark and further expand the market, Betrimex is looking for a new sustainable development direction through investment in modern production chains, applying the Vietnamese and International quality management systems, such as ISO, HACCP, TQM and GMP to increase quality while reducing product price. The corporation also pays much attention to popularizing the trademark of Ben Tre coconuts at international fairs and establishing representative offices to introduce its products abroad.

With its great efforts, Betrimex will strongly develop and make a contribution to bringing great benefit for enterprises and local people.
