Three major transport projects put into service in Quang Ninh

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc this morning attended a ceremony to open three major transport projects invested by Sun Group in Quang Ninh province.

The projects with a total investment of over 20 trillion dong (roughly 851 million US dollars) are Van Don international airport, Ha Long international cruise port and Ha Long - Van Don expressway.

Located in Doan Ket commune, Van Don district, Van Don is the first international port invested by a Vietnamese private group with a total investment of over 7,463 billion dong (over 317 million US dollars). Being an airport built with standard code 4E and military airfield Level II, Van Don is capable of handling all modern aircraft, including Boeing 787, 777 and Airbus A350, A320. It can serve around 7,000 passengers per day.

Ha Long international cruise port in Bai Chay, Ha Long city has a total investment of over 1 trillion dong (over 56 million US dollars). It is capable of handling ships with gross register tonnage (GRT) of up to 225,000. It is the first international cruise- only port in Vietnam.

Ha Long – Van Don expressway with a total investment of over 11.8 trillion dong (over 502 million US dollars) is designed for a speed of 100km/h. It has four lanes and two emergency lanes. The expressway helps cut the travel time from Ha Long to Van Don to 50 minutes from 90 minutes. Together with Ha Long-Hai Phong expressway, which opened to traffic in September, Ha Long-Van Don expressway helps halve the travel time from Hanoi to Van Don to 2 hours and a half.- VNP
