State takes special care of disadvantaged children

Hanoi , May 29 (VNA) – The State always pays special attention to children, especially those with difficulties, President Truong Tan Sang has stressed.

Meeting with 55 gifted poor children from 11 cities and provinces in Hanoi on May 29, President Sang praised their will in overcoming hardships and advised them to keep efforts to make their dreams come true.

On the occasion, the State leader also highly valued contributions by localities, organisations and sponsors to helping the disadvantaged kids.

The Vietnam Fund for Children has received more than 4 trillion VND (188 million USD) from organisations and individuals over the past 22 years, supporting 28 million children nationwide, he cited.

However, there remain nearly 1.5 million children living in difficulties and more than 2.5 others are on the brink of poverty, he said, adding they need more care from the Party, State and the whole community.

President Sang asked ministries, agencies and localities to better child care and education work and consolidate children’s sponsor funds as a bridge between sponsors and children.

Religious freedom must not be separated from civic responsibility

The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly rejected what it calls “unobjective and inaccurate” claims in various reports. Most recently on March 4, the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) released its 2025 Annual Report on international religious freedom, which gave biased allegations about the religious situation in Vietnam.
