Vientiane, August 19 (VNA) - The Embassy of Vietnam and the Lao Foreign Ministry jointly organised a friendly football match in Vientiane on August 18 to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations and 40 years since the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
The event was witnessed by Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung and Lao Foreign Minister Saleurmxay Kommasith.
After 90 minutes of completion, the Lao Foreign Ministry’s team beat the Vietnamese Embassy’s squad 4-3.
The friendly match aims to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen the traditional and special friendship between the two agencies in particular and the two nations, in general.
The same day, the security sector of the two nations held a sport exchange programme as part of the activities to celebrate the 72nd National Day (September 2) of Vietnam and of the traditional day of the Vietnam People's Public Security Force (August 19).
