My Son Sanctuary heritage site eyes more tourists

The Management Board of the My Son Sanctuary World Cultural Heritage Site is focusing on increasing service quality and offering discounts of 30-50 percent on tickets to attract more visitors to central Quang Nam province as COVID-19 is brought under control in Vietnam.

Management Board Director Phan Ho said Towers K and H, which were restored by Vietnamese and Indian experts during the 2016-2019 period, are now ready to welcome visitors.

Tickets will be cut 30 percent from June 1 to September 1 for tourists and 50 percent for local people visiting in groups.

Children aged under 16 can enter for free, and prices on all souvenirs have been cut 10 percent.

Once the religious and political capital of the Champa Kingdom, My Son Sanctuary is located within a hilly landscape in Duy Phu commune, Duy Xuyen district, about 70 km southwest of central Da Nang city and 40 km from Hoi An ancient town.

It is comprised of eight groups of 71 monuments built from the 7th to 13th centuries.

The sanctuary was recognised as a world cultural heritage site by UNESCO in 1999./
