Leader starts state visit to Cambodia

Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and a high-level delegation arrived in Phnom Penh on February 25 afternoon to begin a state-level visit to Cambodia at the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni.

He was welcomed by Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace Kong Som Ol, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection Men Sam An, and other government officials.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh, along with the embassy’s staff and overseas Vietnamese people and students, were present at the Pochentong International Airport to welcome the Party and State leader.

Following his arrival in Phnom Penh, a grand ceremony chaired by King Norodom Sihamoni was held at Cambodia’s Royal Palace to welcome Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and the Vietnamese delegation.

The host and guest later held talks at the palace.

This is the first time Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong has paid a state-level visit to Cambodia in his new position, illustrating Vietnam’s great attachment of importance to the reinforcement and enhancement of friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
