Labour Confederation official greets Australia guests

Hanoi, April 13 (VNA) – Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) Nguyen Thi Thu Hong received a delegation from the Australian Political Exchange Council (APEC) in Hanoi on April 12.

The delegation led by Eleni Petinos, an MP from New South Wales, comprises six other Australian young political leaders and is visiting Vietnam from April 9-15.

The VGCL Vice President briefed the guests on the labour force of Vietnam, highlighting employment rates among women and young people.

She also informed the delegation of Vietnam’s policies on gender equality and training for young labourers.

Eleni Petinos lauded Vietnam’s achievements in gender equality and labour, saying that the rate of unemployment among young labourers in Vietnam is low compared with the rest of the world.

The APEC is a political exchange programme that arranges fact-finding visits of young political leaders between Australia and other nations. It was established in 1981.
