A high-level delegation of the Lao People’s Army (LPA) led by Lieutenant General Thongloi Silivong, Deputy Minister of National Defence and head of the LPA’s General Department of Politics, visited Vietnam’s Military Zone 9 High Command on March 20.
Major General Huynh Chien Thang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Military Zone 9, detailed some missions of the zone’s armed forces such as training, increasing the fighting capacity to defend the country, helping reduce poverty, build new rural areas, address consequences of natural disasters and diseases, and join search and rescue efforts.
In 2017, the Military Zone 9 High Command sent two delegations for exchanges with Lao units to celebrate the Vietnam-Laos Friendship, Solidarity Year.
Thongloi Silivong congratulated the zone on its achievements in building forces, training and safeguarding national sovereignty in the southernmost region of Vietnam.
He expressed his wish to increase cooperation with the zone in the future.
