Health Ministry seeks more time to compile data

The Ministry of Health has proposed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc give it more time to issue circulation numbers for certain medical equipment (categories B, C, D) by January 1.

The information was released by Nguyen Minh Tuan, Director of the ministry’s Medical Equipment and Construction Department.

On May 15 last year, the Government promulgated Decree 36/2016/NĐ-CP about managing medical equipment, under which, equipment will be classified into four categories, A, B, C, D based on its level of risk and managed by circulation numbers. Medical equipment type A is the least dangerous, while type D is the most dangerous.

The ministry set up guidance documents and software to receive information about the circulation of medical equipment.

However, several difficulties occurred. One was that the ministry could not connect online administrative services about medical equipment circulation with the national portal that had been agreed with the General Department of Customs.

Besides, on October 11, the ministry received a letter from the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam saying that it could not complete the work in time because there were too many medical equipment documents.

The ministry then asked the Government for permission to reduce the deadline for the work.
