HCM City, Phnom Penh strengthen tourism connectivity

HCM City, September 7 (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City and the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh should continue offering optimal conditions for their travel firms to strengthen connectivity, attract tourists, and share experience, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Huynh Cach Mang has said.

At a meeting with Deputy Governor of Phnom Penh Keo Sokpisey in the City on September 7, Mang lauded the Phnom Penh delegation’s participation in the 13th International Tourism Festival of Ho Chi Minh City.

He noted that the two sides have enjoyed fruitful partnership in economics, trade, investment as well as education and tourism.

He pledged that the city will continue its efforts to further bolster cooperation between the two countries as well as between Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodian localities, especially Phnom Penh.

Mang noted that the Cho Ray-Phnom Penh hospital project shows the sound partnership between the two cities.

For her part, Keo Sokpisey thanked the Vietnamese side as well as Ho Chi Minh City in particular for supporting Cambodia through school and road construction projects. She expressed her hope that localities of both sides will continue fostering ties in the future.

Lauding the 13th International Tourism Festival of Ho Chi Minh City, she said that the event is a good chance for the two cities to beef up tourism affiliation.

Currently, Phnom Penh welcomes over 100,000 tourists from Ho Chi Minh City each year, she noted, expressing her hope that the figure will continue rising in the coming time.

Along with tourism, the two cities should also step up collaboration in education and training as well as infrastructure development, health care, and information technology, she suggested.
