Hanoi workshop marks 100th anniversary of October Revolution

Hanoi, November 23 (VNA) – A workshop marking the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution of Russia (November 7) took place in Hanoi on November 23.

Opening the event, Vice President of the Vietnam Peace Committee Pham Van Chuong highlighted the historic significance of the October Revolution to peace, national independence and social progress of peoples worldwide, including the Vietnamese.

Vice Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Viet Thao said the October Revolution 1917 has ended the monopoly era of capitalism in the global economy and politics, opening a new era for social progress.


President of the World Peace Organisation Socorro Gomes said celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution has inspired persevere and heroic fighting spirit of heroes who made the most exceptional liberation in the 20th century, thus saving nations from imperialism.

The event provides a chance to tighten trust and solidarity among democratic and progressive forces for the sake of freedom, social and human liberation and peace, she said.

Participants discussed the October Revolution 1917 and the development path of the world today, the struggles of peoples for peace, the Vietnam – Soviet Union and Vietnam-Russia relations.

The event was co-hosted by the World Peace Council, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam Peace Committee.
