Hanoi students promote local tourist attractions

As many as 300 students in Hanoi will promote cultural and historical values of the local tourist attractions when joining the “Supporting Thang Long-Hanoi Tourism” programme launched by the municipal Department of Tourism on March 22.

The students were chosen at the Hanoi Open University, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under the Vietnam National University-Hanoi, and the University of Languages and International Studies under the Vietnam National University-Hanoi, Hanoi Metropolitan University and the Hanoi University of Industry. All of them have good health, strict discipline and sound English speaking skills, and love voluntary activities.

They will work at popular tourist sites frequented by many domestic and foreign visitors like Thang Long Royal Citadel, Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake and Ly Thai To Statute, Temple of Literature and Old Quarter.

Besides supporting the visitors at the tourism information booths on Le Thach Street, the volunteers will join tourism events in the city.

They have received training from the tourism department in communication skills, basic knowledge of the tourist sites and first aid in case of incidents.

According to the department, the programme aims to raise awareness among the youths of preserving and promoting the country’s cultural and historical values.
