Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam signed by Thai team

Vietnamese national football team's goalkeeper Dang Van Lam has been signed by Muangthong United FC of Thailand.

The Thai team paid a transfer fee of 3 billion VND (130,000 USD) to Hai Phong FC for his services.

The three-year deal will pay Lam 10,000 USD a month. The club will also provide him with an apartment and a car.

Lam is a rising star in the region after he played a key role in Vietnam’s ASEAN Football Federation Cup triumph. He was also voted the best keeper of the tournament and was selected in the Cup’s Best XI.

"After the AFF Cup success, I receive people’s attention and support as well as favourable conditions if I keep playing in Vietnam. But I don’t want to stay in the ‘safe zone’, I want to face with challenges to have new experiences in my career” Lam said.

Lam, 25, will move to Thailand after the end of the Asian Cup in the UAE. The Thai League 1 will kick off on February 22.
