The campaign lasted for 56 days under the command of General Vo Nguyen Giap. It saw Vietnam defeat the French colonialists to put an end to their rule in Indochina the same year.
The event features 39 works by 27 artists on different materials, depicting the developments on the battlefield during the period and portraying those who made the historical victory. Many of the works have been shown to the public for the first time.
President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association Tran Khanh Chuong, who also has his works exhibited, said the exhibition helps bring back a chapter of the history and educate younger generations on Vietnam’s traditions, history and patriotism. It also honours those who contributed to the victory, he added.
The free-of-charge display lasts until May 10.
