Chinese fishing vessel rescued off Thua Thien-Hue shore

Thua Thien-Hue, April 20 (VNA) – A Chinese fishing vessel in distress offshore Phu Loc district in central Thua Thien-Hue province was helped to anchor at the locality’s Chan May port on April 20, according to the local Border Guard.

The boat, which carries three fishermen on board, started from Hainan Island and drifted into Vietnamese waters due to strong wind and waves.

Le Van Phuong, Deputy Commander of the local Border Guard, said that the boat had intended to seek shelter at Chan May Port after encountering bad weather on April 18. However, it went the wrong way and ran aground in the Phu Loc waters.

The border guards at the Can May border gate provided food and water for the fishermen, and took the ship to Chan May Port.
