Bukchon Hanok Village is well known as an ancient village in the Republic of Korea (RoK). It boasts many alleys with traditional Korean houses of Hanok which are intact.

The village has a total area of 113ha with 900 traditional wooden houses where noble families and mandarins of the Joseon Dynasty (1392 – 1910) lived. These houses were constructed in a specific architectural style from carefully selected natural materials, so many of them still retain their original style under Gigko trees. 

Tourists visit Bukchon Hanok Village. There are two walking tours for visitors to discover the charm of Bukchon. During the tours, visitors have a chance to take a stroll in the alleys of Hanok and visit traditional arts workshops and palaces. It takes about three hours for a walking tour to see the diversified andwonderful relics.

Bukchon Hanok Village is considered “a street museum at the heart of Seoul” because it has preserved the typical traditional cultural features of RoK.
