ASEAN – Korea lighting exhibition underway

An exhibition, themed “The Light of ASEAN, One Community” opened at the Asia Culture Center (ACC) in Gwangju, the Republic of Korea, on October 17.

It is a display of light from hundreds of big lanterns, which move following musical patterns. Visitors are allowed to interact with artworks at the show.

Korean artists said lanterns are considered a symbol of people’s dreams about prosperity, which is also their source of inspiration for the exhibition.

According to the organiser, the event aims to reflect a connection and bright future between ASEAN and the RoK via the use of traditional art featuring common cultural values of the bloc.

The show offers free entrance for visitors in a month.

The ACC is also selected to be the venue of the upcoming 2019 RoK-ASEAN Cultural Ministers’ Meeting later this month.
