APEC 2017: Trump will not meet with Putin in Da Nang

anoi, November 10 (VNA) - US President Donald Trump will not hold a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Vietnam, the White House said on November 10.

"Regarding a Putin meeting, there was never a meeting confirmed, and there will not be one that takes place due to scheduling conflicts on both sides," press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters prior to Trump’s landing in the central city of Da Nang.

"There is no clarity yet," Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by Russian press.

A day earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told Russian media that the two leaders would meet on the sidelines of the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Meeting on November 10, adding that the two sides had already agreed to the time and place.

Both presidents have been in Vietnam to attend the APEC meeting, with Trump expected to deliver a speech on global trade.
