American Hangout learning space inaugurated in Can Tho

An “American Hangout” learning space was launched at Can Tho University in the Mekong Delta city of the same name on June 5.

At the event, US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Mary Tarnowka said that the “American Hangout” is a model of interactive learning in Vietnam, providing students with access to book collections on the US and English teaching documents and magazines.

The space is also expected to help people exchange knowledge and improve their English competency.

Prof. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of the Can Tho University said the learning space will help the university become a key research centre in the Mekong Delta.

It will also promote international cooperation in research and cultural exchange between Can Tho city and the US, he noted.

Toan also expressed his hope that the US Consul General will continue activities to link the university and the US government, as well as organisations and individuals that wish to invest in education in the Mekong Delta.
