All medical resources must be mobilised to fight COVID-19 in HCM City: Deputy PM

The efficiency must be placed first and all medical resources must be mobilised to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, regardless of public or private, military or civilian, central or local level, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam stressed while inspecting pandemic prevention and control at Military Hospital 175 in Ho Chi Minh City on July 27.

Dam, who is Head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, said that the COVID-19 pandemic has spread widely in Ho Chi Minh City and its neighbouring localities, requiring the application of special solutions.

Local people should accept to sacrifice personal interests, give up some personal habits and needs for a while to avoid heavy losses in lives when the pandemic cripples the healthcare system, he said.

The Deputy PM asked local administrations at all levels to ensure people's lives, mobilise and create the best conditions for charitable activities to better support people in need.

At present, Ho Chi Minh City’s mission is to ensure the strict implementation of social distancing regulations, protecting the safety of medical staff, and improve the efficiency of coordination and cooperation between sectors, localities and units in transport and treatment of COVID-19 patients, he noted.

According to Major General Nguyen Hong Son, Director of Military Hospital 175, since the COVID-19 broke out in the city, the hospital has expanded its screening of those with high risks. The hospital is ready to support pandemic prevention and control for military hospitals in the Southeast region./
