Saigon Fresh Rolls

Goi cuon Saigon (Saigon fresh rolls) is a delicious dish which is popular in different regions, especially in Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces in the South. Visiting Ho Chi Minh City, one can enjoy the dish at both luxury restaurants and common stalls on streets or from vendors.
The main ingredients for making the dish consist of thin rice paper, rice vermicelli, pork, shrimp, herbs and rice vermicelli. The rice paper is made from rice flour mixed with tapioca starch that helps the rice paper avoid breaking when rolling. The dish can be served with sweet-sour sauce, dipping sauce or chili sauce.

Goi cuon Saigon is well-known for its recipe to keep natural taste of ingredients.

In 2011, Vietnamese fresh summer rolls were ranked 30th in the World’s 50 best foods by CNN. This snack made from pork, shrimp, herbs, rice vermicelli and other ingredients wrapped in rice paper is served at room temperature. It is “meat light,” with the flavours of refreshing herbs erupting in your mouth. Dipped in a slightly sweet sauce laced with ground peanuts, it’s wholesome, easy and the very definition of “moreish,” commented CNN.
