During the visit, the Chinese top legislator held talks with National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; paid a courtesy visit to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and State President Tran Dai Quang; had a meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; and attended, as an observer, a plenary meeting of the 14th National Assembly’s second session on November 10. He also took part in a people-to-people friendship meeting and the closing ceremony of the Vietnam-China Youth Festival; met with secretaries of the Party committees of Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.

At the meetings, the two sides affirmed to attach importance to promoting Vietnam-China friendship, neighborliness and a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. The leaders agreed to exert every effort to realise the common perceptions shared by the two countries’ leaders, maintain regular meetings at a high level, promote the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms, and improve the quality of investment projects. Vietnam and China pledged to step up exchanges and cooperation between their sectors, localities and people, especially younger generations. They also agreed to work together to keep disputes under control with respect for each other’s interests and international law, and maintain peace, stability and the healthy development of bilateral relations.
The two sides discussed measures for reinforcing cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Chinese National People’s Congress.Both sides are going to enhance connections through Party and State channels, bolster communications about aVietnam-China friendship, and consolidate the social foundation to develop bilateral ties in a healthy, stable and long-term direction.
They expressed the belief that with joint efforts, relations between the two Parties, States and parliaments will grow positively, thereby bringing about substantive outcomes along with happiness and prosperity for the two peoples.
