VSIP Bac Ninh’s construction started in 2007 in a total area of 700ha, including 500ha for the industrial zone and 200ha for the urban and service area. The project is worth about two billion dollars and plans to provide jobs for 50,000 people.
The industrial park completed stage No. 1 and has undergone stage No. 2 with the participation of 51 foreign investors from Japan, Taiwan, RoK, Singapore and the US, namely Microsoft, Suntrory PepsiCo, Foster, Mapletree and Nittan, employing 20,000 labourers. It accounts for 18% of FDI of the whole province of Bac Ninh. Customers of VSIP Bac Ninh come from 23 countries around the world.
The industrial park was built with a self-contained and synchronous infrastructure system of electricity, water, a waste water treatment factory and telecommunications. There are also useful services such as a bank, restaurants, two water supplying plants of 10,000m3/day to serve the production activities and an electricity grid of 22kV.
At the ground-breaking ceremony of VSIP Bac Ninh, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai emphasised that VSIP Bac Ninh is the symbol of the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore while Singaporean former Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong acknowledged that VSIP Bac Ninh is not only a Singapore-style industrial park but also a township that caters to Vietnam’s growing needs for affordable quality housing and an improved urban infrastructure, making significant contributions to Vietnam’s urbanisation and growth.

Risto Meskus, General Director of the Microsoft Vietnam Factory highly appreciated the industrial park saying that Bac Ninh VSIP has a good investment environment with a synchronous and modern infrastructure, meeting the requirements of Microsoft
Talking about the industrial zone, Somkuan Inthiravonranon, Managing Director of Nittan Vietnam said that apart from industrial producing units, the industrial park has trade promoting units, such as Asia Trade City (ATC) Company from Singapore which is building a trade city in VSIP, serving as a bridge for international investors to do research and invest in Vietnam.
In 2014, Nittan Vietnam Co., Ltd. (a Thailand-Japan Joint-venture) started its production in the industrial park. This company specialises in manufacturing motorbike engineering valves of small sizes which are energy saving, environmentally friendly and highly appreciated by customers. With a modern production line and a staff of professional and skilled employees, the company produced different high-quality products for automobile and motorbike producers, such as Honda and Yamaha.
According to Huynh Quang Hai, General Director of VSIP Bac Ninh, the investment environment at VSIP is implemented as a one-door policy and the management board is eligible to grant licenses for investors. The synchronous and complete infrastructure and customs at VSIP facilitate import and export procedures for enterprises.
The result of the World Investment Prospects Survey 2010-2012 conducted by UNCTAD shows that Vietnam ranks first among ASEAN members in terms of FDI attraction and one of the top ten most attractive economies for foreign investors.
With its efforts, VSIP Bac Ninh promises to become a reliable address for foreign investors to produce and create their trademarks in Vietnam in particular and in the global supply chain in general./.
VSIP was founded on the basis of the friendship and economic cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore which was proposed to Singaporean Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong by Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet in March 1994.
Vietnam has five VSIPs, including Binh Duong (02), Bac Ninh, Hai Phong and Quang Ngai. So far VSIP Bac Ninh has attracted nearly 500 investors with a total FDI of 6.4 billion dollars and a total export turnover of 8 billion dollars, creating jobs for 140,000 people. |
