Vietnam-Russia Promote Cooperation in All Aspects

The official visit to Vietnam by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev from April 5-7, 2015 attracted special attention from the public of both countries and the world. This visit provided opportunities for both nations to strengthen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and promote cooperation in all aspects.
 During his stay in Vietnam, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev had talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung, met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and paid courtesy visits to State President Truong Tan Sang and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

In the spirit of friendship, trust and mutual understanding, the two sides affirmed to continue implementing the consistent policy on fostering the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and making a great effort to boost  cooperation in multi-faceted areas.

They reached a consensus on speeding up the signing of the free trade agreement between Vietnam and EAES in the first half of 2015; increasing the two-way trade turnover to 10 billion dollars in 2020; researching the feasibility of payment  using the domestic currency of each country in transactions to support bilateral trade; strengthening cooperation in not only exploring and exploiting but also processing and refining oil.

The leaders affirmed to boost the  construction of the Ninh Thuan No. 2 Nuclear Power Plant  as agreed to meet requirements of ensuring security, and safety at the highest level while complying with the regulations of Vietnamese law on construction investment.
The two sides highly appreciate the relationship in defence and security between the two countries, especially in the fields of military technique, military personnel training and asserted to continue close and more effective cooperation in these fields.

The leaders applauded active cooperation among the two countries’ localities and suggested related bodies realise the contents on establishing joint-venture enterprises in the fields of processing seafood and timber in Primorye  in the Russian Far East.

In terms of the East Sea, the two sides agreed that all disputes in the East Sea should be resolved by peaceful measures on the basis of respecting international law, including the United Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982), implementing fully and effectively DOC and early building COC.

During this visit, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev laid a wreath at the Monument to Martyred Heroes, laid a wreath and visited President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum; witnessed the signing of some documents in the fields of energy, investment, banking, health and transportation; witnessed the signing of “Memorandum of Expanding and deepening the comprehensive cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the  United Russia Party  in the 2015-2017 period; visited Ho Chi Minh City, the Reunification Hall; attended the Vietnam-Russia Business Forum and visited Cu Chi Tunnels in Cu Chi District.

Vietnam-Australia Ties Become comprehensive Strategic Partnership

After over 50 years of diplomatic relations, Vietnam and Australia have built a solid and comprehensive relationship based on mutual strategic trust and understanding. During the official visit to Australia by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in March, upon the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, both sides announced the upgrade of their bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
