Vietnam, Lao commissions boost communication cooperation

The Vietnamese Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission and the Lao Party Central Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Training will step up cooperation in the communication work in the time ahead.

The consensus was reached during a working session between representatives from the two commissions in Vientiane on May 8.

They said the move aims to raise public awareness, especially among young generations, about the traditional relations between the two Parties, States and peoples, as well as reform achievements in each country.

The two sides reviewed the implementation of their cooperation agreement and exchanged experience in the instruction and management work.

Sipaseut Senvavath, deputy head of the Lao commission, shared experience in rejecting inaccurate information and that in personnel training, especially workforce in the social network.

The Lao commission will intensify cooperation with its Vietnamese counterpart in all-level delegation exchanges and personnel training in localities, particularly in border provinces, he said.

Bui Truong Giang, deputy head of the Vietnamese Commission, said Laos’ experience would be applicable in Vietnam, especially the use of the social network and media in opposing wrongful viewpoints by hostile forces and “self-evolution” of officials and Party members.

The officials also compared notes on measures to enhance the bilateral collaboration for the time ahead, focusing on information and education work, science-technology, training and document collection.

The same day, Giang and his entourage paid a courtesy visit to head of the Lao Party Central Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Training Kikeo Khaykhamphithun.

They are scheduled to have working sessions with representatives of the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and Pasaxon (The people) newspaper.
