US-DPRK Summit 2019: Initiative to open US-DPRK liaison office welcomed

Experts have given positive feedbacks on the initiative to establish diplomatic liaison offices in the US and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), which was raised at the DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam between US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un in Hanoi on February 28.

Ankit Panda, an editor at The Diplomat, described it as a specific and timely move to change the bilateral relations in a positive manner.

Meanwhile, Julian Borger from The Guardian said a liaison office is what the DPRK expects when establishing diplomatic ties with the US.

The DPRK leader Kim told the press after his extended meeting with US President Donald Trump that the idea of the US setting up a liaison office in Pyongyang should be welcomed. Meanwhile, President Trump said it is a good idea.
