The PM examined the Quang Trach Power Centre project, which has a total investment of about 100 trillion VND (3.92 billion USD) and comprises three component projects to build infrastructure system, 1,400MW Quang Trach 1 thermal power plant, and Quang Trach 2 LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) power plant.
He hailed their efforts together with authorities to complete about 60.5% of the plant's major items.
Highlighting the importance of the project, the leader asked the Vietnam Electricity to coordinate closely with Quang Binh to speed up ground clearance for the project, ensuring its progress and quality, thus striving to complete the plant on the occasion of the 80th National Day (September 2, 2025).
At the 225.5-km Quang Trach-Quynh Luu 500kV transmission project, which is part of the Quang Trach-Phi Noi 500kV transmission project, PM Chinh hailed ministries, sectors, and localities as well as contractors’ efforts to implement the project.
He asked relevant agencies to mobilise resources and provide optimal conditions to investors and contractors to carry out the project and ensure the living conditions for workers. He expressed his hope that the project can be finished before the end of this month.
The PM later inspected the North-South Expressway's section passing through Quang Binh with a total length of 126.43km. Its construction affects 3,227 local households and a number of power and telecommunications systems.
He lauded Quang Binh for handing over 96% of land to the project and building 26 resettlement areas for 551 households, and thanked locals for giving their land to the project.
He said he expects the project will complete before the celebration of the 50th Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30, 2025).
The same day, the Government leader visited the project constructing a 80-km coatal road and Nhat Le 3 bridge.
The coastal road has a total investment of 2.2 trillion VND, crossing 16 communes and wards of six districts. It is scheduled to complete in 2026. Currently, 89% of the ground for the project has been cleared.
Meanwhile, the bridge has a total cost of 1.3 trillion VND, the foundation of which has been completed.
PM Chinh reminded Quang Binh to pay special attention to the resettlement work, ensuring the livelihood for people who have to move to the new places.
Requesting the locality to speed up public investment capital for 2024, he said that central agencies will review and move capital from stagnant projects to faster ones.
Also on June 2, PM Chinh offered incense to General Vo Nguyen Giap at his resting place and heroic martyrs at the Ba Doc martyrs’ cemetery in Bo Trach district, and presented gifts to policy beneficiary families ad children and persons with disabilities at the centre for social welfare of Quang Binh.
Visiting Nguyen Quang An, a 84-year-old wounded veteran at Nam Ly ward, Dong Hoi district, he affirmed that the Party and State always remember the contributions and sacrifice by older generations and those who fought and died for the national independence and freedom.
He asked the local Party Committee and administration to continue to pay great attention to caring for the material and spiritual life of policy beneficiary families and people who rendered services to the nation.
Visiting and presenting gifts to children and persons with disabilities in the Quang Binh centre for social welfare, which is nursing 80 disadvantaged people and children facing extreme difficulties in the province, PM Chinh said he hopes all the disadvantaged people and children at the centre will overcome difficulties and thrive.
On the occasion, PM Chinh also visited My Ha village, My Thuy commune of Le Thuy district where he encouraged locals to stay united to build the new-style rural areas and life of culture.
On the evening of June 2, he is scheduled to attend a ceremony to mark the 420th founding anniversary of Quang Binh and 35 anniversary of its re-establishment.
He will pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh ad heroic martyrs at a temple commemorating the late leader in Dong Hoi city./.
