The 24th ASEAN Army Rifle Meet

The 24th ASEAN Army Rifle Meet (AARM – 24) kicked off on November 19, 2014 and lasts to November 28 at Mieu Mon National Training Centre (Hanoi). It is the first time Vietnam hosts the competition that provides a chance to introduce other countries to the Vietnam People’s Army glorious tradition.

AARM – 24 takes place in the context of ASEAN entering the final year (2015) of the process of building a community. Therefore, the event is of great significance, promising a new motivation for promoting cooperation of ASEAN member countries’ armies in general and contingents participating in the competition in particular. It also provides a chance for shooters to exchange their experiences, skills and tactics in actual combat.

The 24th ASEAN Army Rifle Meet drew the participation of 10 contingents from ASEAN member countries, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar and the host, Vietnam. The contingents competed in five categories such as rifle, machine gun, carbine, men’s pistol and women’spistol. The host country’s contingent had 31 athletes competing in all five categories with 32 matches.

The event will end on November 28, 2014.
