A peace-praying ceremony and lantern festival took place on the Luc Dau River dyke in front of Kiep Bac Temple in Hai Phong city on the evening of September 28, the 18th day of the eighth lunar month, as part of the 2026 Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival.
The ceremony featured traditional rituals praying for peace, favorable weather, prosperity, and happiness for the people. It also highlighted the historical and spiritual significance of the Luc Dau River and Kiep Bac Temple, a sacred site associated with Tran Hung Dao, a national hero and renowned military commander of the Tran Dynasty.
As night fell, thousands of lanterns were released onto the river, creating a sparkling scene along the water. The glowing lanterns carried wishes for peace and good fortune while adding a solemn yet picturesque touch to the festival.
The event attracted large numbers of local residents and visitors, offering them an opportunity to experience traditional cultural and spiritual practices while honoring the heritage of the Con Son - Kiep Bac historical and cultural complex.
The annual festival is one of the major cultural events in Hai Phong, featuring a range of traditional ceremonies and activities that pay tribute to national heroes and preserve the cultural heritage of the region.
