As a key-person in developing Israeli start-up ecosystem, Oren Simanian is called an “Entrepreneur for Entrepreneurs”. Today Oren acts as a senior advisor for the Hebrew Language Academy, Technion Group, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Haifa, and a consultant in innovation and building entrepreneurial eco-systems. He is the founder of StarTau, Tel-Aviv University’s Centre of Entrepreneurship, leading Marketing and Community at Indiegogo - Israel, the world’s leading crowd funding platform. Oren is also a co-founder of the Israeli start-up portal http://www.startisrael.co.il/ .
Recently, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tel Aviv City’s authorities held the Start Tel Aviv Competition 2015, in which winners have the opportunity to be trained in Israel. As one of the counsellors of the competition, Oren made his way to Vietnam to give direct guidance to participating Vietnamese young CEOs.
During the meeting with a Vietnamese start-up circle in Hanoi, Oren shared his experience in building a start-up ecosystem.
A start-up ecosystem is generally the network of interactions among people, organisations and their environment. Entrepreneurs always need an ecosystem, a community to share their experience, receive support and create the products which are valuable to the society.
Oren Simanian shared with Vietnamese entrepreneurs his know-how in entrepreneurship from forming ideas to translating the ideas into reality, including how to build a good project profile, make a presentation and leave investors with convincing impression.
The participants could learn much about logical thinking in doing business, from finding investors, connecting with scientists, circulating information to finding support from authorities and creating global products.
Oren’s mentorship helped 50 young Vietnamese entrepreneurs understand the way to start a business. Nguyen Huu Bang, deputy director of Mictec Company said, “Applying what Oren advised can provide me with confidence in the company’s products, which are hardware for industrial machines, as well as new ideas to develop them.”
Nguyen Thanh Cong, CEO of LC Tech.vn Company was interested in Oren’s ideas on capital sources and start-up experience. He said: “I did start-up 4 years ago and failed. Today we have big customers such as IBM and Le Brothers. I consider Oren a partner to help me develop and perfect my business plans”.

“Oren taught me that I need to study the market before a start-up and I must choose a global business and have local partners. It is that theory that helped me develop Younet Media to be a big social network in Vietnam with international customers such as Samsung, Vietjet Air, Yamaha and Fonterra.
