Northern border defense war in February 1979

On February 17, 1979, the Vietnamese Party, people and army had to face a war of aggression launched by China across the entire northern border. In response to the general mobilization order of the President, Vietnamese soldiers and people all stood up and fought to protect the country’s northern border.

As many as 16,000 officers and soldiers on August 5 gathered at Mieu Mon National Training Centre in Hanoi for the second rehearsal for the military parade and march in preparation for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).
