For decades, Tien Sa Port has served as the region’s main maritime gateway. But growing demand has put pressure on its space and operations under the current dual-use model. Under the new plan, Tien Sa will gradually focus on tourism and cruise services, while large-scale cargo handling will shift to Lien Chieu.

Located at the foot of Hai Van Pass on the northern shore of Da Nang Bay, Lien Chieu is being developed as a strategic infrastructure project. Covering about 450 hectares of land and water, the port has a total investment of more than 45 trillion dong (over 1.7 billion US dollars) and is designed to handle up to 50 million tons of cargo a year.
