Member of the Political Bureau and Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Tran Cam Tu, along with a high-ranking CPV delegation, left Hanoi on August 24 morning for a two-day official visit to Singapore where he will co-chair the first Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Dialogue between the CPV and People’s Action Party (PAP) of Singapore.

The visit is made at the invitation of the PAP Central Executive Committee.

The delegation includes Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Organisation; Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Policy and Strategy; Doan Minh Huan, Politburo member, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; and Le Hoai Trung, Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Also joining the delegation are Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan; Permanent Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee's Office Nguyen Thi Thu Ha; Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Organisation Nguyen Thanh Tam; Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Inspection Doan Anh Dung; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong; Assistant Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the CPV Central Committee Bui Anh Tuan; Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs Nguyen Xuan Truong; Vice Chairwoman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Publicity Vu Thanh Mai; Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Van Hoi; and Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh.

The visit marks several first milestones, as it is the first official visit to Singapore by a Permanent Member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat. It is also the first meeting of the Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Dialogue mechanism, which the two countries' leaders agreed to establish during the state visit to Singapore by General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and President To Lam in May.

Vietnam is the first Southeast Asian country to establish such a mechanism with the PAP./.

Trăn trở giữ “hồn lửa” làng đúc đồng Chú Tượng

Từ một trung tâm đúc đồng thủ công sầm uất với hàng trăm hộ đỏ lửa làm nghề, nay làng Chú Tượng (thôn Đức Hiệp, xã Long Phụng, tỉnh Quảng Ngãi) chỉ còn vài hộ miệt mài bám lò, giữ gìn từng nhịp búa và sắc đồng giữa dòng chảy hiện đại.
