Industrialization in Bac Ninh Province

Bac Ninh Province is well-known for Quan ho (love duets) singing, an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Called the northern gate of Hanoi, Bac Ninh now moves its economic development in the direction of industrialization. With great potential in the current industrial zones, the province’s target is to become a major economic area in the economic triangle of Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh.
((Nguyen Nhan Chien, Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee)

"One of the factors helping investors have confidence in investing in Bac Ninh industrial zones is that the local authority has implemented very well the policies and pledge of "always accompanying the enterprises."

One of the strong points of the province’s economic development strategy is investing in the construction of a system of modern industrial zones. So far, there are 15 centralized industrial zones with total area of 7,681ha (6,847ha for industrial zones and 834ha for urban quarters). Ten industrial zones are investing in construction and operating with modern, infrastructures, such as an internal transport system, an electrical system for lighting and production, a clean water system and a waste water treatment and sewerage system to meet the demand for production of investors.
The development of industrial zones in Bac Ninh Province are carefully planned, taking into account the connectivity of socio-economic development between areas in the province, between industrial zones and groups and between Bac Ninh Province and neighboring localities. The industrial zones are Tien Son, Dai Dong-Hoan Son, VSIP, Hanaka and Tu Son on Highway 1; Yen Phong I, II on highway 18B; Que Vo 1, 2, 3, Dai Kim and Nam Son-Hap Linh on Highway 18; and Thuan Thanh 1, 2, 3 and Gia Binh south of the Duong River.

Most of the foreign projects in Bac Ninh are invested in by large companies or leading international groups, such as Samsung, Canon and P&TEL, from South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the US, Germany, Samoa, China and Hong Kong. The operation of these enterprises has significantly contributed to the growth and the transfer of economic structure in the province. Thanks to their contributions, from 2007 to 2011, Bac Ninh Province was ranked 6th in terms of the index of provincial competitive ability in the whole country.
According to Nguyen Nhan Chien, Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, Bac Ninh will develop its economy and shift the economic structure to a modern and sustainable direction, becoming one of three provinces having the highest FDI in Vietnam and will become an industrial province by 2015. For the industrial zones, it will focus on developing high-tech sectors, environmentally friendly, clean technology and auxiliary technology fields.
With great potential of becoming an industrial zone, Bac Ninh Province has confirmed its position with the economic development strategy in the direction of modernization and industrialization, making a contribution to promoting the development of the economic triangle.
