Enterprises helping Ho Chi Minh City repel the pandemic

Helping Ho Chi Minh City with COVID-19 prevention and control, city-based enterprises have implemented many activities of support for the locals in the COVID-19 crisis in the southern economic hub. The firms donated high-flow oxygen ventilators, rapid test kits, patient monitors, hospital beds and ambulances as well as essential goods for the COVID-19 battle in Ho Chi Minh City.
Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the President and Prime Minister, 105 units and businesses in Ho Chi Minh City have registered to donate more than 2,293 billion dong (100 million US dollars) to purchase the COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, thousands of businesses have presented medical equipment and food to help the city fight the pandemic.

Among these firms, Hung Thinh corporation has many ways to support the locals and frontline medical forces in the fourth wave of COVID-19 in the city. Recently, the chairman of Hung Thinh corporation Nguyen Dinh Trung presented 200 high-flow oxygen ventilators worth 14 billion dong (roughly 600,000 US dollars) to Ho Chi Minh City. He said: “Thinh, as well as the city’s business association, has been continuing to give more medical equipment and supplies to meet the current urgent needs.”

These ventilators were delivered directly by Hung Thinh corporation to 32 hospitals allocated by the city’s department of health. Among these were frontline hospitals for COVID-19 treatment were the COVID-19 Resuscitation Center (Oncology Hospital 2), the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City, Thu Duc Hospital for COVID-19 treatment, Trung Vuong, Pham Ngoc Thach and many field hospitals for COVID-19 treatment in the city.

Previously, Hung Thinh corporation presented 50,000 SARS-CoV-2 rapid test kits worth 7.5 billion dong (300,000 US dollars); 75 patient monitors (5-parameter monitors) costing 10 billion dong (450,000 US dollars); 5,000 foldable beds worth over 2.5 billion dong (110,000 US dollars) and 500 million dong (21,000 US dollars) to zero-dong supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City.

Through the program “Saigon people love each other”, Hung Thinh Land (a member of Hung Thinh corporation) donated 500 million dong (21,000 US dollars) to present 2 ambulances to Thong Nhat hospital. It has been listed as one of 30 enterprises that contributed significantly in the COVID-19 fight by Forbes Vietnam.
By the end of August, Ho Chi Minh City has received medical equipment and supplies worth more than 1,300 billion dong (51 million US dollars) from donations by businesses in the city.

In the list of 30 enterprises by Forbes Vietnam, private firms have played a major role in giving to the COVID-19 fight in Ho Chi Minh City. Vingroup presented 500,000 Remdesivir vials, the drug licensed for COVID-19 treatment by the FDA in the United States. Van Thinh Phat group donated 200,000 protectives gears and masks and Sun group gave 70 billion dong to purchase PCR testing systems, ventilators and medical biological products. With the motto “Leaving no one behind - Together we win”, Tan Long group presented 110 tons of rice to families who faced hardships during the pandemic.

The Ho Chi Minh City authorities committed to strictly manage, transparently and effectively, the use of the donations to best serve the epidemic prevention and control.

The Giang Vo Military School and Le Dynasty Weapons Collection exhibition has recently been opened at the Hanoi Museum.
