The sacred land of Tay Yen Tu

The Tay Yen Tu (Western Yen Tu) Spring Festival and the Culture-Tourism Week 2019 in Bac Giang province have given visitors a chance to explore the sacred land of Tay Yen Tu and the original culture of ethnic people in Bac Giang.
The two spiritual, cultural and tourist events which took place from February 14 to 20 (from the 10th to 16th day of the first lunar month) introduced not only the beautiful scenery but also cultural values of Bac Giang province, especially the cultural space of Truc Lam Zen Buddhist area in Tay Yen Tu region.

The Tay Yen Tu spiritual and ecotourism complex in Tuan Mau commune, Son Dong district, was the center of activities of the two events with the theme “Discovering the sacred land of Tay Yen Tu”. The activities included a Buddhist statue procession, an exhibition on Truc Lam Zen Buddhist sect, and a display of Vinh Nghiem pagoda’s woodblocks.

The events also featured traditional festivals of Bac Giang province, including Soong hao singing of the Nung people and a "love market" in the highlands of Tan Son commune, Luc Ngan district.

The Tay Yen Tu spiritual and ecotourism complex features Thuong pagoda from which visitors can see the entire region of sacred Yen Tu with stretched green mountains and Dong pagoda looming on the mountain peak.

Bac Giang province has 2,237 relics, including 101 national and 711 provincial ones, of which Vinh Nghiem pagoda in Yen Dung district and Bo Da pagoda in Viet Yen district are special national relics.

Bac Giang is also home to tangible and intangible cultural heritage, including old villages of quan ho and ca tru folk singing, the woodblocks of Vinh Nghiem pagoda, and stone incense table in Kham Lang pagoda./.
