President Tran Dai Quang begins State visit to India

President Tran Dai Quang, his spouse and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam set foot in New Delhi on late March 2, beginning a three-day State visit to India at the invitation of Indian President Ram Nath Kovind.

The Vietnamese leader was welcomed at Palam military airport in New Delhi by India’s Union Minister of State for Defence Subhash Ramrao Bhamre, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish, representatives of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Ton Sinh Thanh, and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the country.

The visit takes place at a time when Vietnam – India traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation have been developing extensively, especially since the establishment of a bilateral strategic partnership in 2007 and the elevation of the ties to comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016.

It affirms Vietnam’s consistent external policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of foreign relations, including the friendship with India.

Earlier same day, President Tran Dai Quang had visited Bodh Gaya city in the state of Bihar, the first destination in the tour of India.-VNA/VNP
