PM Phuc welcomed the official visit by General Suwana-Adth, describing it as an important contribution to the enhancement of the friendship between the two countries and cooperation between the two armies.
Having expressed his delight at the sound development of the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership, he affirmed that promoting friendship and cooperation with Thailand is always one of the top priorities in Vietnam’s foreign policy with ASEAN.
PM Phuc applauded the outcomes of the earlier talks between General Suwana-Adth and Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army. He also evaluated the two defence ministries’ cooperation, especially since their cooperation agreement was inked in 2012.
The two sides should increase high-level meetings and dialogues, boost defence policy coordination, enhance cooperation between military forces, share information and support each other in multilateral issues, he added.
For his part, General Suwana-Adth informed his host about the encouraging outcomes of cooperation between the Thai and Vietnamese armies, noting that they have carried a number of cooperation activities in personnel training and strengthened collaboration between military services and arms.
He said during his talks with Lt. Gen. Giang, the two sides agreed to promote comprehensive cooperation between air, naval and ground forces and increase the exchange of intelligence information so as to ensure defence and security in their respective countries, along with peace and stability in the region and the world.
The two armies also concurred in promoting the bilateral cooperation mechanism, thereby helping to solidify the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership in the time ahead, the officer said.
