Nguyen Xuan Son scored twice as Vietnam beat Malaysia 2-0 in the second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2026 semifinal at My Dinh National Stadium on August 19, securing a 4-0 aggregate win and a place in the final against Thailand. The result gives Vietnam a third consecutive appearance in the ASEAN Cup final. Thailand reached the title decider after defeating Singapore in the other semifinal.
